PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST
Elena Donbrova
Curator.
The exhibition is based on photographs from the first volume of photographer Alexander Bublikov’s book Silence and brings together portraits of members of the Belarusian art community, including painters, graphic artists, and sculptors.

The project is built around a simple idea: artists are, first and foremost, ordinary people – people who could just as easily be your neighbours. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see these artists outside the familiar context of galleries, studios, and public appearances, capturing their individuality in a neutral setting stripped of professional associations.

The exhibition explores the subtle boundary between the artist as a person and the work they create. The space is divided into two conceptual realms: the “silence” of everyday appearance and the “ART Portrait” as an expression of creative energy.

The viewer is invited to look closely and consider a difficult question: how much can a person’s outward appearance reveal about their inner world, life experience, and creative potential?
The project brings the viewer and the artist closer together, turning the exhibition into a space for reflecting on the nature of inspiration – and on the possibility that it begins in the quiet of everyday life.
